The Buffalo War

There are only a couple of wild buffalo herds left on our land here in the US. This is no accident, the wild buffalo are being systematically targeted and killed by certain groups (especially in the state of Montana). I have my own beliefs about why this is happening. Buffalos that are wild have a sort of unpredictability to them that is not actually threatening to humans, but that threatens our sense of what (in nature? in ourselves?) we are able to tame and control.
But you should check it out yourself, educate yourself about this (our history on this land is intimately connected to the buffalo in many ways), and come up with your own conclusion. Information about an incredibly powerful documentary can be found here:

Spring snow on my birthday

I heard on the radio the day of my birthday (3/28) that there had never (on the records - since the 1940s) been snow this late in the year in Portland. What a gift. :-)
